Streamlining Business Operations & Boosting Service Levels with NetREPORT®

Orr Protection Systems (OPS), is an industry leader in designing, installing and inspecting fire and explosion safety systems. Its customers, many of them fortune 100 companies, rely on OPS to make sure that their world-class safety systems are fully operational and ready to prevent disasters that may cause catastrophic losses.

Over the years, as a result of OPS’s technical expertise and quality of service, their inspection business grew rapidly; inevitably OPS began to experience new challenges.

OPS needed a way to manage their growing body of expertise in inspecting every fire and explosion safety equipment ever installed—and a way to systematically schedule inspections for those equipment, driven by their customers' desired service level.

In addition, OPS wanted to streamline their inspection data gathering and reporting processes while bringing it online so that their customer would have immediate access to them.

After having done significant research and evaluating several enterprise field services packages, OPS realized that they needed a customize solution that not only streamlined their operations and manage their technical expertise, but also help raise the level of customer service by providing instant access to inspection data.

Orr Protection Systems teamed with Polarity Software to develop NetREPORT— a comprehensive enterprise field service solution with internal knowledge management and reporting capabilities.

NetREPORT's key components include:

  • Mobile data collection with a light-weight intelligent knowledgebase of safety assets on the Pocket PC handheld devices (NetREPORT Mobile Inspector)

  • Remote data synchronization thru the Internet

  • Central inspection dispatch and service scheduling tool (Route Manager)

  • Client information, inspection history view and safety assets management tool (Client Monitor)

  • A safety asset repository and service requirementments knowledgebase (Component Library)

  • Custom reporting tools (Report Central)

PolaritySoftware and OPS formed a team that worked together closely from the early design stages to the construction, testing, refining and pilot release of the solution. Combining OPS's domain expertise and Polarity Software's solution development experience, the our team was able to deliver.

By successfully launching NetREPORT, OPS has not only streamlined its core business processes but has upped its service levels allows their customer instant access to inspection and asset data.

Working with Polarity Software, OPS was able to successfully build and deploy a cutting-edge solution specifically tailored to gain even more of a competive edge—providing unmatched quality of service to it customers—at a very competitive cost.

Today, OPS is very well poised to further position itself as the leader in fire and explosion safety services.

A managed, iterative and open collaborative process—with no surprises

Thru Polarity Software's unique collaborative and iterative solution development process, OPS was able to launch a large-scale field service application with minimum risk and in a timely fashion.

To do that, Polarity Software released fully functioning betas of the application at every stage of the development process so that OPS's team could test-drive it and provide feedback before the development was fully completed.

This provided ample opportunity for both teams to refine and fine-tune the application before releasing it to the pilot user group—reducing the risks associated with typical software projects of this size and scope.
